JANANI BALACHANDER
Hello
I am Janani Balachander (You know that by now!). I live in London with my husband and 2 children. Design has been my first love - I have dabbled in various fields of design from Architecture & Interior Design to wedding set design. Below are some of my non UX projects (Just kidding, I could never do a project without incorporating UX in it!)
Children's books
As an illustrator and co-author of children's books, my approach is fundamentally user-centric, a principle that has consistently shaped my work. This dedication was reflected in our meticulous user testing with children aged 2 to 4, ensuring that the content was engaging and well-suited for our young audience. Our collaborative efforts paid off remarkably, with one of our books earning a place among the top 25 most-read children's books on Kindle Unlimited in the US and UK, a significant achievement that underscores our successful alignment with both user needs and client expectations.
Menu re-design
On a visit to the then recently opened Ahimsa cafe, I couldn't help but point out that the menu wasn't readable and the A5 size menu was too crowded. The business owner was appreciative of the feedback and requested me to make the menu more readable.
Festive advent Calendar
Inspired by advent calendar, I designed a narrative calendar for the Hindu festival of Navratri (Which means 9 nights). The festival is celebrate to commemorate victory of a goddess over a demon in a 9 day battle. Each box has the story of Navratri and each day has some cool information about the goddess and the weapons she used in the battle.
